Penang Gateway of ‘11

Went to Penang for a short break during last year X’mas. It was really pack and jam everywhere! Lucky enough we only plan for a “makan” trip. The island was crazily jam!!

 

Driver for the trip a.k.a My C.E.O and my kena-coned-Breakkie. The bread is hard.=.=

Dropped by Bidor-Perak for a proper breakfast – C.E.O recommended. Their significant duck drumstick noodles and wan tan mee. Both was good. But attracted me the most was the old uncle yam dumpling (Wu Kok). Uncle only sell Wu kok and Siew Bao. I am always not too keen on Siew Bao but the Wu kok was really mouthwatery.

Another Stop for lunch before entering to the island -- Ong Cheng Huat Seafood which is located in the industry area of Butterworth. Not easy to spot get the place as it isn’t located along the main road but there are signboards to guide u. This is really worth a try and i wish i have bigger stomach.-.-. We were so bloated from the breakfast already, thus, we only manage to order some light dishes to try on.From top left: Prawns craker (thumbs up!!), boiled Octopus, Lala, and fried Ice-cream.

Crepes Cottage. We were so full after whacking the foods from Gurney drive but i still insist to give a try on their crepe. I need Desserts!!!! and a soft reminder to all the boys/men out there, girls/ladies always have space for DESSERTS. ><

Of cos not to forget Air Hitam Market which has plenty of good food. We try to get there early but the place was stuck with cars!!Added with my Driver got the wrong turn. So we ended up there during noon.
 

No complain cause i gotta eat the Ah Ma Curry Mee which i am craving for so so long!!Lovely, especially the squid and sambal, Ah ma never fails me. ^^


Penang signature Laksa. This was not as good as previous. A little dilute for the soup maybe is due to the crowd for public holiday. Disappointed.

This is a small stall at road site just opposite the Laksa. Run by an aunty and uncle helps to deliver breads. So Sweet. Deep fried bread with assorted stuffing. Highly recommend on Aunty’s Curry Chicken bread!!The Curry was so concentrate and full of curry fragrant.It is still delicious even it is cold. However ,the sausage bread is forgettable.

My C.E.O favourite. I think this is the best Malay’s soup i have ever had. The Chicken soup was slightly oily but tasty.I like the generous amount of shallots and spring onions.Moreover, the Beef soup was so beefy! Or should i say super Beefy!!!Beside the soup, they also sells Nasi lemak which is very good but too spicy for my liking and also Nasi Kandung.

One of the famous Char Koay Teow stalls in Penang which indulge the eater with huge huge prawns. The regular one includes 2 prawns ,on the other hand, the special one is with 4 prawns and prawn mantis,selling at RM 10 per plate which is double of the regular’s. Frankly speaking, the koay teow itself was just normal, I prefer it to be drier and use the broader koay teow than ho fan instead.

Our Last Stop of the Trip.The shop that C.E.O found it all by his poor dolphin memory. Surprisingly he got it rite after a few wrong turns.  -.- . The food counter is a mess with curry splash all over it but the shop was super duper pack!! We waited for about 5 minutes only the stuff took our order but the food came really fast. I love their fried chicken. Juicy and tender. Curry was good too especially go with white rice. Yummy!! Nasi Bryani was just average,maybe i just prefer those bryani rice with raisin and rendang chicken. That’s just my way of Bryani should be!
